Davina McCall’s boyfriend, Michael Douglas, has opened up about how the recent health scare involving Davina's brain tumour has affected their relationship. He told Closer magazine that while the experience has brought its challenges, it has also strengthened their relationship. He described Davina as incredibly strong, noting that he’s had to rise to her level to ensure equality in their relationship.
Michael added that Davina’s recovery has been progressing well, saying “She’s doing really well. The overall feeling is that it couldn’t have gone better. We went through a month of uncertainty, not knowing what her recovery would look like. From mid-November to mid-December, it felt like a waiting game, but her brain is recovering very well.”.
As the couple moves forward, Michael reflected on how the tumour has changed their outlook on the future. “We’ve both woken up this year with a real sense of optimism and excitement for 2025,” he said. While the topic of marriage has come up in conversations, Michael was hesitant to confirm any plans just yet. "We often talk about it, but I don’t think so. What I love about us is that we’re not tied to each other, and that’s what keeps us there in a way. There’s something nice about being independent people so we’re working out what it would mean for us to be married and if that's something we should do, if we need to do it or not.”.
This follows the major health update Davina shared with her fans last month. The ITV star filmed herself with a huge smile, and she said: "Hi just a quick update to let everyone know that I'm doing well. And the last couple of days I've really, really, really felt miles better and I've come in to London today to celebrate one of Michael's boy's birthdays, so that's lovely.".
