Destroy air fryer grease and dirt with 11p household staple

If you're the unlucky one in your household who has to tackle the greasy air fryer, you'll know it's not exactly a prize-winning task - but an 11p kitchen staple might just be your saviour. Air fryers have revolutionised our kitchens, allowing us to chuck in various foods for a quick cook, resulting in deliciously crispy and tasty treats - yet, they're notoriously tricky to get clean.
The effort of scrubbing off all that built-up grease can take ages, but a woman seeking advice on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group was met with a surprisingly affordable solution. She wrote: "Can anyone recommend a product to clean my Ninja air fryer? It's got lots of stuck-on sticky grease and no matter what I try it won't come off. I have tried Elbow Grease, Pink Stuff, bleach etc.".
Contrary to expectations of a fancy cleaning spray recommendation, many suggested a common laundry item - biological washing powder. One person advised: "Try soaking in biological washing powder and boiling water. The enzymes in the powder break down the grease. Make sure you rinse really well though.".
Echoing this, another added: "Hot water straight from the kettle and a bit of washing powder. I swear by it. Mine looked just like that." One woman revealed: "Elbow Grease wouldn't remove the grease on my air fryer but the cheap laundry powder from Asda did.".
