Cleaning the kitchen is a tough chore that most of us would rather avoid. Even after tackling the dishes, kitchens can become a greasy, grimy mess. However, to maintain a pest-free and functional kitchen, it's a necessary evil. Luckily, a professional cleaner has shared a nifty trick using a spatula to keep your kitchen spotless, even in those tricky spots you'd usually miss.
Jetlag Remedy, an Australian bespoke housekeeping firm, divulged this cleaning gem on TikTok, captivating over 75,000 viewers. "Here are three household cleaning hacks that are actually useful that I use as a pro cleaner", declared the woman in the clip.
Her first tip for removing stubborn grease from tight spaces involves wrapping a spatula with a microcloth. She demonstrated using the clothed spatula to scrape "along those hard to get to areas". "It can be used around stoves, in sinks, in bathrooms, I love this one", she said. This hack is especially useful for cleaning tight nooks where grime tends to accumulate, utilizing the spatula's edge to dislodge dirt and dust that's usually out of reach.
The cleaner also revealed her secret to a sparkling sink, starting with a "minimal abrasive cream cleaner" like Cif, and giving the "whole sink a scrub". After this, she boiled the kettle, poured the hot water down the sink and waited for it to dry. The final step to a gleaming sink was using a stainless steel cleaner on a cloth and giving the area a wipe. Afterwards, the sink looked "brand new".
Her last piece of advice was "making sure you're dusting your plants" - especially the ones with big leaves. "It makes a huge difference to your house but what I do to make them super shiny and keep the dust away a little bit is add a tiny bit of oil", she explained, suggesting olive or coconut oil would do.
