Diogo Dalot has backed Ruben Amorim to bring the good times back to Manchester United. United have endured a frustrating campaign, first under Erik ten Hag and now under the Dutchman's replacement Amorim. The 39-year-old has won just eight of his 17 games in charge, leaving his side 12th in the Premier League. Amorim has led his side to two successive wins, but delivered a brutal assessment of the team following the dismal 3-1 defeat to Brighton on 19 January. But he also made it clear he was confident he will succeed.

"In [the past] 10 games in Premier League, we won two," said Amorim. "Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that. "We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. Everybody here is underperforming and we have to accept that. It is unacceptable to lose so many games. The opponents are better than us in many details.

"You have to acknowledge we are in a very difficult situation, with all the bad records, as losing games at home, losing games in the Premier League. I know we can succeed but I am not naive. We need to survive this moment. But I am not going to change, no matter what.". Dalot has been a key player under Amorim, starting all but two games since he took charge. The fullback is expected to play a siginificant role once again as United travel to FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Is Ruben Amorim the right man for Manchester United? Comment below. Ahead of that game, the Portugal international has come out swinging for his manager. He backed Amorim as the best man for United, echoing his manager's belief that success will come back to Old Trafford. “Obviously, there's been a change in manager and I hope this manager stays for 10 years and we can build a new Man United history with trophies and wins. That will arrive, I can guarantee you. If it's now or in the future, I can guarantee this club will win again," he said.

I am 100 per cent sure of it. It's too big not to. And I don't think there is a better place to be when you are winning and when you are actually competing. I don't think there is anywhere else you could desire to be. “As soon as you arrive at this club, it's a shock in every aspect, for the positive and the negative. For you to find that balance of being able to cope with the pressure, with the highs and lows, it takes some time.

“It took me four years to start playing regularly and consistently with this team. I will not say it takes that time for everybody, but for me it was a tough period. I had to come, I played, there was a change in manager, a change in decisions, injuries.".
