The Doctor Who Christmas special is expected to be among the top watches on Christmas Day, filled with mad adventures and recognisable guest stars. Once again, the BBC sci-fi drama has had a revamp with actor Ncuti Gatwa taking over as the fifteenth Doctor Who to save the world from peril in the Tardis time and time again.
Now, it’s the 32-year-old’s turn for some Christmas fun with plenty of juicy details dropping ahead of the episode’s release this festive season. Doctor Who’s Christmas special, Joy To The World, is going to air on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, at 5.10pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The episode will only be available to watch from this release time and after on the streamer, so fans won’t be able to preview ahead of time on BBC iPlayer. Of course, leading the way is Netflix ’s Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa who became the new Doctor Who in last year’s Christmas special.
He will be joined by guest star Derry Girls and Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan as Joy, a woman who checks into a London hotel and finds a secret doorway to the Time Hotel. The hotel capitalises on this to sell stays throughout history and Joy encounters “dinosaurs, danger and the Doctor” as a result.
They will be joined by a number of other famous faces including Trollied star Joel Fry, Good Omens’ Jonathan Aris and Casualty’s Julia Watson. Yes, a trailer has been released ahead of the episode, teasing plenty of wild adventures to come for the Doctor and Joy.
