Doctor Who is returning ahead of season 15’s debut next year for its Christmas episode, so who will be joining the Time Lord for the special?. Following the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special on BBC One, Doctor Who will be bringing festive family fun at 5.10pm as the Doctor visits a hotel that allows guests to travel throughout time.
And as the countdown begins until the episode comes out, fans are eager to know exactly who will be starring in Doctor Who’s Joy To The World. No Doctor Who adventure could happen without the Time Lord himself and while their face has changed many times over the years, the mischievous attitude has remained the same.
Now as the fifteenth Doctor, actor Ncuti Gatwa will be starring in the Christmas special after he made his own debut as the Time Lord last Christmas. Gatwa is best known for portraying Eric in Netflix ’s hit comedy-drama Sex Education and has since been in the Barbie movie and Apple TV+’s Masters Of The Air.
Guest starring as the Doctor’s temporary sidekick is actress Nicola Coughlan who shot to fame as Clare Devlin in Channel 4 ’s Derry Girls. Since 2020, she has gained global fame by starring as Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s romantic drama Bridgerton.
Coughlan will portray Jo Almondo in Doctor Who, a woman who checks into a London hotel to find it has a secret doorway to the Time Hotel where she goes on to encounter “dinosaurs, danger and the Doctor”. Among those working at the Time Hotel is Trev Simpkins who is played by actor Joel Fry.
