The world's wealthiest tech bros, with a combined wealth of £1.7 trillion, further cosied up to President Donald Trump by being given prime seats to his inauguration. Amazon found Jeff Bezos, SpaceX and Twitter/X CEO Elon Musk, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple's Tim Cook were among the billionaires seen attending the inauguration. Many of the tech billionaires have previously supported Democrats but have closely aligned themselves with Trump after he easily swept rivals aside for the Republican nomination.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Google CEO Larry Page were also among those who were seen at Capitol Hill at Washington DC today. The billionaires were at times seen typing away on their phones as they waited for Trump to deliver the maiden speech of his second term.

Musk has proven to be a key ally of Trump, having spent some $300million on getting him elected. Following Trump's election victory in November, Musk has stuck close to the Trump team and is set to head a non-government department aimed at cutting the federal budget.

The meme-named Department of Government Efficiency, named after the DOGE cryptocurrency, has stated its mission is to identify what it views as unnecessary government regulations and spending to be cut. But in a dramatic move, a lawsuit against DOGE was filed moments after Trump took office, claiming it violated federal transparency rules.
