Erling Haaland is set to pocket at least £260million by the time his bumper new nine-and-a-half-year contract concludes. The 24-year-old Norwegian striker has been a sensation in English football since joining Manchester City in a £51.2m deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. Under Pep Guardiola's tutelage, Haaland has netted 111 goals in 126 appearances for the Citizens, clinching two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League – with ambitions of adding more silverware in the future.
Despite recent links to Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid, Haaland has reaffirmed his commitment to the north west of England, signing a near decade-long contract that will keep him at the Etihad until the end of the 2033/34 season. The new deal eliminates any existing release clauses, although a fresh one will be activated from 2029 – but it'll still cost £250m to snatch him away from then.
It's anticipated that Haaland will receive a significant boost on his current £375,000-per-week wage, potentially rising to over £500,000 weekly – before bonuses are even considered. This would see Haaland amass a staggering pre-tax total of approximately £260m by the time his contract runs out in 2034, especially as his pay is said to be backdated to the start of the current Premier League season.
Breaking down his salary, £500k-a-week equates to £71,428 per day or £2,976 per hour, reports the Manchester Evening News. When adding the substantial sum he'll earn over the next decade to his reported £32m ($40m) net worth, Haaland's earnings are expected to reach at least £292m.
