Passengers reportedly missed connecting flights and had holiday plans dashed after a Eurostar train became stuck in the Channel Tunnel for nearly three hours. Some 800 passengers were stuck in the tunnel for three hours before being evacuated to Calais. The lengthy delay happened on one of the most busy days of the year as people once again start widespread travel following the festive period.

The train had been due to arrive at Paris Gare du Nord at about 9:20am local time but it broke down in the Channel Tunnel during the journey. Were you on the Eurostar train? The user added: "There are several people in our car that missed flights leaving Paris and they are being left to their own efforts to fix it.".

Chip continued: "We are on a day trip to Paris. Planned on being in Paris for 8 hours (our only day there) and coming back on the last Eurostar tonight...The train was without air and it got unbearably hot inside. "Eurostar wouldn’t open the doors to just let some air in. The charging ports for cell phones don’t work and the food service wasn’t prepared for this. I saw one worker the whole time inside the car and he didn’t speak to anyone.".
