Amazon Prime's coverage of the Premier League came to an end after six years on Friday night as Arsenal beat Ipswich 1-0 thanks to a Kai Havertz goal. Amazon have broadcast 20 games a season since first agreeing a rights deal with the league back in 2018. That deal was initially set to run for three seasons, but it was rolled over largely due to financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

However, a new broadcast rights deal will kick in next season, with Amazon not winning any of the five packages the league put up for tender last year. Instead, Sky Sports have won four packages and TNT Sports have the other. And presenter Gabby Logan signed off Amazon's final broadcast by saying: "We've had six fantastic years of Premier League football on Prime - 128 games, 335 goals, some singing from John Legend and countless epic moments.

"We hope you've enjoyed those as much as we have loved making them. Don't worry, we will continue to bring you exclusive coverage of Tuesday's top Champions League games all season long. So on behalf of everyone at Prime, we wish you a very happy new year and we'll see you again soon.".

And many football fans were left disappointed by the news, with one writing: "Time for you to go all out and secure the footage full time because the coverage is so much better." Another said: "Such a shame. It's been great and a breath of fresh air compared to the other two.".
