Ferne McCann was "let down" by her famous pals who failed to support her on Dancing on Ice, it is claimed. The TV personality, 34, was the second star to be knocked out of the competition in a shock early exit on Sunday evening. She was visibly upset when hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern delivered the bad news.
The former The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) star said: "So gutted, but it is what it is. It's been amazing. Thank you so so much. It's just been brilliant. So fantastic.". Movie Week saw McCann perform a Trolls-themed skate on Sunday to September by Earth, Wind And Fire, which features in the animated movie. However, she and skating partner Brendyn Hatfield went home.
But many of her former TOWIE co-stars went quiet online. An insider said today: "Her closest friends didn’t even post the ITV number to save her or encourage their fans to vote. One of her best friends totally ignored it even though she’s been there for them through thick and thin.".
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "Maybe if her friends had rallied around her and posted in her favour, it would have been a different outcome. I'm sure it feels like a real kick in the teeth.". Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley had told her 583,000 followers: "Don't forget to vote for Ferne!" However, it wasn't enough to encourage sufficent fans to save mother-to-two MccCann, who it is understood was crying hysterically backstage after the axe.
But the star, who was born in Brentwood, Essex, yesterday said online she will be back to support her co-stars for the final of the ITV show. Thanking everyone on the show and those at home who had voted for her, she continued: "I just want to say a big thank you to everyone. Dancing On Ice is such a magical show and I really did have the best time.".
