ROLE-PLAYING games are some of the most popular in gaming, and 2024 was a fantastic year for RPG fans. Whether you are into Western or Japanese RPGs, there were a large number of excellent games in the genre this year. If you’re looking for a recently released RPG to dig your teeth into, then we have everything you need to know.

Here are our five favourite RPGs released in 2024. BioWare took almost a decade to create Dragon Age: The Veilguard but it was worth the wait. We loved returning to Thedas and encountering familiar faces as well as building relationships with a whole new cast of characters.

Following the classic story after Cloud and the gang leave Midgar, Rebirth tells the second part of the story of one of the best games of all time. It expands on the story of the original with more side quests, and additional character dialogue that reveals more about them.
