Footage shows a huge pile of rubbish several feet high which was left in a supermarket car park after Christmas. Festive 'fly-tippers' sparked outrage after emptying their household waste next to recycling bins at an Asda in Dunfermline. The shocking scenes were filmed on Boxing Day, showing people dumping cardboard boxes and black bin liners on the Halbeath Retail Park site.

Rubbish was stacked up high while the pile stretched across a grassy mound at the car park. Among the garbage were Christmas gift bags, an empty box from a guitar shop and a box for a new TV, Daily Record reports. Council clean-up crews were forced to go and remove the waste on Friday, December 27. Meanwhile, Asda bosses have urged people to use the Fife Council bins at their superstore "responsibly" as they warned punters not to leave rubbish if bins are full.

Many locals have been left disgusted after pictures were posted online. Shona Stewart said: "They are all fly tippers. Those bins should all be removed. Each household has four bins, people should learn to recycle your own stuff. They should be fined heavily, I'm sure Asda has cameras. No wonder the councils don't have any money.".

Mary Wright said: "I can't believe how many people think this okay, that it's the council's fault. Really? What's wrong with people. Just flatten it and keep it until you can get to the tip or a be a bit more organised before Christmas.". Lou Binnie added: "There's no really any need for that though is there the recycle centres will be open tomorrow if they can drive to Asda surely they could wait another day rather than dumping it and now someone is gonna now need to come and clear all that over Christmas." Sandra Watson blasted: "That’s disgusting and poor refuse people will have to clear it! I’ve loads of cardboard to go to tip but would never dream of doing this!".
