Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins has been seeking advice from her fans on how to celebrate her upcoming milestone birthday. The GMB host confessed on her Instagram account that she's been in a bit of denial about turning 50 in May. She shared details of a recent interview with Woman magazine where she discussed the need to embrace her age, despite not having any plans yet for the special occasion.
She wrote: "So.. I've a milestone birthday coming up in May, which I've been in a bit of denial about. I've talked about it in @woman.maguk out this week as I know I need to embrace it, but I still haven't worked out how to celebrate! ! Any ideas let me know.". Many of her followers were quick to share their own experiences and suggestions, ranging from afternoon tea to a spa day. However, many were taken aback by her age. One fan exclaimed: "OMG how are you nearly 50, Charlotte! ? Looking amazing! " Another chimed in: "No way are you coming 50.".
A third added: "Wow! ! ! I thought you were in your 30's! You look great," reports the Manchester Evening News. Other fans echoed these sentiments, with one saying: "Well you do not look almost 50 wow." Another commented: "You don't look 50 more 39 - 40 Charlotte.". And another said: "50 really.... I actually thought you were not even 40 yet, the baby of GMB.". Among those who responded was her GMB colleague Susanna Reid, who had some wise words for Charlotte: "Beautiful - ageing is a blessing.".
Many agreed with Susanna's sentiment, with one fan stating: "Growing old is a privilege denied to many.". Charlotte, a mother of one and a familiar face on the ITV daytime show, recently had to interrupt the programme to deliver breaking news about Australian police discovering explosives in Sydney intended for an anti-Semitic attack. In the interview with Woman, Charlotte discussed a significant decision she made after her family suffered a heartbreaking loss.
The 49-year-old revealed that their beloved rescue dog Bailey passed away last year at the age of 16. Despite anticipating the loss, Charlotte didn't expect it to feel like a "physical pain". As an ambassador for the Dogs Trust, it has taken her a "long time" to consider welcoming another pet into her home. However, along with her husband Mark Herbert and daughter Ella Rose, she is now ready to adopt a new pet.
She shared: "Last year we lost Bailey, our rescue dog. She was 16 and a big part of our family. We knew it was coming, and I'd said to my daughter, 'Prepare yourself', but when it happened, it hit me like a physical pain, which I had not expected. It's taken us a long time to even think about getting another dog, but this year we're taking the plunge and welcoming another furry friend into our house.".
