GMB's Richard Arnold reveals huge disappointment over latest venture with Kym Marsh

When Kym Marsh and Richard Arnold were asked to present a new travel show, they slipped on their shades, grabbed their passports and reached for their cabin bags. Channel 5, however, had other ideas and the pair never left the TV studio, instead sending intrepid celebrities in search of sun, sea and sand.
“We had to settle for basking in the warm glow of our sizzling chemistry rather than sunning ourselves somewhere,” laments Good Morning Britain star Richard. “We’re living vicariously through the celebrities. We enjoyed keeping an eye on them but Kym and I were firmly rooted in a studio in Camden.”.
Instead it was celebrities such as Jane McDonald, Cleo Rocos, Susan Calman and father and son duo Larry and George Lamb who got to grips with aeroplanes, cruise ships and, er, caravans. Fittingly, Cruising star Jane was once again sailing the high seas. “She does love a cruise,” says Richard. “There was one segment when we cut to Jane and she was in an exotic location having a full breakfast in an infinity pool.”.
That was the moment Richard decided he was glad he was trapped in the studio with Kym. He laughs, “I’m not sure I’d want to be in my budgies eating breakfast. I found that quite unsettling!”. Actor Larry and his son George had a holiday closer to home, but it was worlds away from the British seaside experience he gets when filming Gavin & Stacey in Barry Island. Instead they ended up in a tree! “There were some terrific trips at home,” says Richard. “George and Larry ended up in a treehouse in a forest. What was fun for us was watching these celebrities, particularly when they were paired with others because it brings out the best and worst in people.”.
