GREGGS has announced a huge menu shake -up with new burgers as it tries to take on McDonald's and KFC. The no-frills bakery chain said today it would introduce a new chicken burger and wrap to menus. This includes a new BBQ cripsy chicken burger, which comes with BBQ sauce and mayonnaise in a soft corn top roll for £4. And also a new BBQ wrap, which comes with southern fried goujons for £3.80. Both items are part of the Hot Sandwich Deal, which includes any hot sandwich, wedges or side salad and a drink for £4.95.

Elsewhere, in shops nationwide, Greggs said it would bring back its anticipated Katsu Chicken Bake. This comes with chicken breast in a Japanese-inspired Katsu style curry sauce, wrapped in puff pastry. For those with a sweeter tooth, the Cherry Bakewell Muffin is also back, while the Cinnamon drinks range is returning to the menu including the Cinnamon Swirl Latte and Cinnamon Flat White. The new menu will be available from February 6.

Gregg's, famous for its sausage rolls and steak bakes, has been expanding its menu in recent months. Back in May, its launched a new fish finger sandwich and wrap, which delighted customers. The hot, made to order range is now available in over 150 shops, with plans to double its availability to 300 shops by spring. Greggs is planning to open between 140 and 150 shops this year, adding to its existing 2,618 shops.

The fast-food chain recently sparked shopper fury after hiking the cost of a sausage roll to £1.30. Customers have slammed the bakery chain after it bumped up the price of the popular snack by 5p. Greggs has already hiked the price of its iconic sausage roll seven times since 2016, when the lunchtime staple set customers back just 85p. The last time was in July, when both the meat and vegan versions were increased by 5p.

Sausage roll prices shot up three times in 2022 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic - from £1 at the start of the year to £1.15 by the end. Every now and then Greggs will offer freebies and limited time rewards for customers - particularly if it's got new products to introduce. At Greggs you can get a FREE treat on your birthday, but you need to have signed up for the rewards app to claim it.

It's a free app and once you've added your birthday you'll get voucher on the day to show in-store for one free cupcake, cream cake or doughnut. There's no need to panic if you don't make it to a Greggs on your actual birthday, as it's valid for one month afterwards. There are other ways to enjoy Greggs' baked goods while watching the pennies. Iceland sells Greggs products you can heat at home - and you'll often find it's a much cheaper way to get your pastry fix.

You can grab a box of four sausage rolls for £3 - a saving on buying four separate rolls from Greggs. Did you know Greggs sausage rolls have 96 layers of pastry?. The first Greggs opened in 1951 on Gosforth High Street. There are also 2,473 shops around the country — a thousand more than McDonald’s. Greggs is now valued at £2.6billion thanks to its budget deals. Nearly £2 in every £100 spent in UK hospitality is done in a Greggs.
