Gladiators has triumphantly returned to our screens, and this time around, two fresh contenders are vying for glory in the 2025 trophy chase. It's been more than 20 years since the legendary ITV reality show wrapped up, but last year saw a grand revival with Bradley Walsh and his son Barney at the helm on BBC One.
The first series of the reboot crowned Finlay Anderson and Marie-Louise Nicholson as champions after they conquered 11 weeks of intense competition. The second season of Gladiators kicked off on Saturday, January 18, with familiar titans ready to face gruelling new trials.
Among them are two newcomers, including the formidable Hammer – but who exactly is this latest athlete throwing his hat in the ring?. Meet Tom Wilson, not just a personal trainer but also a World Rowing Champion. With gold from the British Championships and silver from European and World indoor rowing contests under his belt, he's no stranger to fierce competition.
Hailing from Nottingham, Hammer towers at an impressive 6ft 5in, and the BBC notes his unique blend of strength and speed at such stature truly distinguishes him. Hammer confidently boasts: "When you've got 19st sprinting at you, you've got no chance. I'm getting you.".
But there's more to Tom than just rowing and Gladiators; his Instagram is filled with heartwarming family snaps, and he takes great pride in being an "super proud uncle". The BBC sports star gushed over his fiancée Chelsea Atkin, whom he asked to marry him in May 2023 during a romantic holiday in Spain.
