For the Radford family, the weekly shop can cost as much as a holiday abroad. Britain's biggest family spend an eye-watering amount on their colossal weekly food bill, which has gone up from a staggering £300 to a jaw-dropping £400. On average they consume 56 sausages, 16 pints of milk and four loaves of bread a day, as well as three tubes of toothpaste, 80 yoghurts a week and 24 toilet rolls per week.
Noel and Sue Radford are parents to a whopping 22 kids who "eat them out of house and home". As well as eldest Chris, 34, the couple share Sophie, 29, Chloe, 28, Jack, 26, Daniel, 24, Luke, 22, Millie, 23, Katie, 20, James, 19, Ellie, 18, Aimee, 17, Josh, 16, Max, 14, Tillie, 13, Oscar, 11, Casper, 10, Hallie, eight, Phoebe, seven, Archie, six, Bonnie, four, and Heidie, three. They also lost a son, Alfie, who was stillborn in 2014.
Now, the massive clan are opening up their doors to the cameras once again on the Channel 5 documentary 22 Kids and Counting. In last night's episode, Noel noticed wife Sue's unusual silence and secretive behaviour. His concern escalated when he discovered a leaflet about early dementia in their family van. Confronting Sue at home, the father-of-22 asked: "What's been going on?" leading Sue to reveal that it was not her but one of her close friends who had been diagnosed with early dementia at just 49.
Sue confessed that her friend had initially wanted to keep the diagnosis private, not even sharing it with her own family. Apologising to Noel, Sue said: "I'm sorry, it's been awful! But now she's told her family, I can tell you, so... she's got early onset dementia," leaving Noel shocked and exclaiming: "Oh my God!".
