Strike: The Ink Black Heart is ready to make its debut - but what is there to know about the life of actress Holliday Grainger?. Two years following the success of Strike: Trouble Blood, another book in the best-selling crime novel series from JK Rowling is once again being adapted for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
This time around, Cormoran Strike (played by Tom Burke) and Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger) are tasked with investigating the death of the co-creator of a popular cartoon after being persecuted by a mysterious online figure. So ahead of the show’s return, here’s all there is to know about Robin actress Holliday Grainger.
Born in March 1988 in Didsbury, Manchester, the Strike actress was raised by her graphic designer mum Jan following the break-up of her parents. It has been reported that they didn’t have a lot of money growing up but Grainger’s mum worked hard in order for her daughter to partake in hobbies including piano lessons, ballet and martial arts.
The 36-year-old entered the entertainment business when she was just six-years-old, landing a role in the comedy-drama All Quiet On The Preston Front. For years, she considered acting a hobby but when she was offered a part on BBC’s Waterloo Road, Grainger left Leeds University in order to pursue an acting career full time.
The Capture star prefers to keep her personal life out of the spotlight but has previously spoken about having anxiety. She told The Road Less Travelled podcast: “I never suffered from any kind of anxiety but then I feel like this is, the more I talk to people my age, the more like, oh god, you know, things just get harder, don’t they?”.
