iPadOS 18.3 has minor changes to Apple Intelligence. Last updated 9 hours ago. Apple's latest run of operating system updates doesn't offer many user-facing changes, but iPadOS 18.3 joins the rest in enabling Apple Intelligence by default. The point three updates all exist to set up future products and the next phase of Apple Intelligence, but there are still a few changes worth discussing. The iPad specifically doesn't have much going on beyond updates that affect every platform.

The release notes for iPadOS 18.3 contain information about Apple Intelligence changes and bug fixes. One of the more significant updates includes changes to how notification summaries work due to how it inadvertently altered key news headlines. Complaints from the BBC led to Apple removing news and entertainment notifications from Apple Intelligence notification summaries. There are also new controls available to turn off notifications on a per-app basis, like doing so from the Lock Screen with a long press.

Users who have avoided toggling on Apple Intelligence so far will need to turn it off after updating to iPadOS 18.3, as Apple will enable it by default. Theoretically, this should be the only time users have to opt-out, and future updates will honor the toggle.
