Louis Saha has backed Rasmus Hojlund to finally come good for Manchester United - but admits the striker is still a work in progress. The Danish international, 21, has managed just 12 Premier League goals for the Red Devils since his £72million move to Old Trafford 18 months. Hojlund has fired a blank in his last six outings in all competitions, but former United frontman Saha is confident the youngster has the attributes to thrive under Ruben Amorim.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Arsenal, the Frenchman said: “Rasmus Hojlund is going to be a good asset to Manchester United – he has the strength and an eye for a goal. You can see that he has to improve, and it’s hard for him in the position that he’s in. The club needs results, and it’s hard for him in a squad where they are still learning.

“Some of his movements, he doesn’t anticipate as much. He needs to gamble and not be as close to his defender. He’s putting his body on the line and fighting the defender all the time, which he doesn’t need to be doing – these movements just put him in a tough position. He needs to manage his strength, and transfer that to speed – that's not always easy.

“I can see that he’s working hard. To get more confidence, he needs to have more touches of the ball. He needs to believe that if the team is playing well, he’s going to be at the end of those balls and scoring more.”. Struggling United travel to the Emirates on the back of last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Premier League leaders Liverpool. Saha says his old club set a benchmark with their performance at Anfield and insists Amorim’s side must take confidence from their display.
