Jamie Oliver is here to debunk the myth that whipping up scrumptious home-cooked meals from scratch with just a few ingredients is a tough nut to crack. His latest pasta dish has been dubbed "the most delicious" by Jamie himself, and chances are you've got everything you need to make it in your kitchen already. This mouth-watering Mediterranean creation is featured in his new cookbook 'Five Ingredients Mediterranean', which boasts of "simple incredible food.".
Eager to share his culinary secrets, Jamie took to TikTok to post the recipe, starting off by slicing 600g of tomatoes in half. He instructed: "Take half of the tomato and just gently rub it [on a grater].". The juice is then collected in a bowl. Moving on, he added "a couple of tablespoons of olive oil into a pan", followed by two chopped cloves of garlic. Next, he prepared "half a bunch of fresh parsley", finely chopping the stalks and adding them to the pan as the garlic began to colour.
"I'm now going to go in with the beautiful fresh tomatoes, look at that" Jamie continued. He matched the volume of water to that of the grated tomatoes before tossing in the rest of the parsley and "letting it rain orzo". Orzo, resembling large rice grains, is a type of short-cut pasta available at Tesco for a mere £1.20. Finally, Jamie seasoned with salt and pepper, covered the pan, and let it simmer for "about 12 to 14 minutes.".
After cooking the dish until it was "tender", he added chopped parsley. Jamie expressed his culinary surprise by saying: "Now, the real twist in the tale", as he started to grate halloumi into it, describing how it "oozes into the pasta", and then topped it off with a generous pour of olive oil. For an impressive finish, he grated more halloumi over the top in "long strokes" and garnished it with some parsley sprigs. The recipe has won many admirers online; one fan commented: "As a Cypriot, who loves anything halloumi this looks lovelyyyyy - plus Oasis in the background make it literally chefs kiss.".
