It was a comfortable victory for Arne Slot’s side who now sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table. It is a very different story for the Hammers, with Julen Lopetegui’s team down in 13th as the Spaniard continues to struggle to make an impact since his arrival over the summer.

Lopetegui’s mood was not improved by seeing his captain limp out of the game after 60 minutes, suffering an ankle problem thanks to a challenge from Alexis Mac Allister. There was not much of an update from the manager after the game, who said of the injury: ‘I do not know exactly. We will have to assess him and we will know in the coming days.’.

The official West Ham website mooted that the could be hope Bowen will still be available for the clash with Manchester City next weekend, with the match report stating: ‘Head Coach Julen Lopetegui will be hoping his skipper is fit to face Manchester City when the Irons return to action in the New Year.’.

Lopetegui admitted that Liverpool are a superior team to his, but nevertheless the Hammers did not acquit themselves adequately against the league leaders. ‘We did not compete as we were thinking to today or as the opponent Liverpool demands. Today has been a tough day for us,’ he told the BBC.
