Five people have been charged in connection with the death of One Direction singer Liam Payne, with more details about his upsetting final moments shared in the process. The One Direction singer, 31, fatally plunged from the third floor of the Casa Sur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16.
Members of staff at the hotel, including chief receptionist Esteban Grassi and head of security Gilda Martin, have been charged with manslaughter along with Liam's friend Rogelio Nores, 35. Waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, and hotel employee Ezequiel David Pereyra, 21, have been accused of selling Liam drugs.
A post-mortem examination found the star had died of multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding. Suicide was ruled out after the singer was found to be likely in a state of 'semi or total unconsciousness' at the time of his fall. Tragically, the statement from the judge and public prosecutor branded Liam's death 'foreseeable' after he had been 'demanding' drugs and alcohol while staying at the hotel. On the day the star died, they said, his 'consumption of various substances' was such it had left him 'unable to stand'.
This harrowing detail was accompanied by claims the singer had been 'dragged' to his room by the receptionist and two others, with the manager accused of allowing this to happen 'at least by omission'. With Liam in a state of 'altered consciousness' the proper thing to do, suggested the judge, would have been to 'leave him in a safe place and with company until a doctor arrived', rather allegedly leaving him alone in a hotel room with balcony access.
