Johnny Depp’s daughter has opened up about being ‘traumatized’ after seeing one of his biggest films as a toddler. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 61, shares Lily-Rose Depp with ex Vanessa Paradis, with the former couple welcoming their first child in 1999, before introducing son Jack three years later.
The 25-year-old has followed in his acting footsteps in recent years, landing roles in Tusk, The Idol and, most recently, Nosferatu, alongside Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Defoe and Bill Skarsgård. In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she reflected on her experience of watching her dad’s movies when she was younger, and the ‘upsetting’ reaction she had to his efforts in 1990 classic Edward Scissorhands.
Unpacking seeing her dad on the big screen in such a different way, she recalled: ‘I was traumatized by it. Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him and I got really upset.’. The Tim Burton flick followed the story of an unfinished humanoid, who has scissor blades for hands, falling in love with a teenage girl after being taken in by her family.
Lily-Rose’s latest film premiered recently to rave reviews, with many commending Robert Eggers’ take on the Dracula-inspired project one of the best horrors ever made. Gothic tale Nosferatu focuses on the chilling obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her.
