Liverpool transfer news: £15m bid rejected as Arne Slot forced to U-turn on January plans

January is already shaping up to be a busy month for Liverpool as they look to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League. The Reds have surged to first place despite only signing Federico Chiesa in the summer. But boss Arne Slot may look to reinforce his squad during the winter window given it looks increasingly likely his side will be fighting for honours on four fronts in 2025.
There will also be much attention on the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, all of whom are out of contract at the end of the season. The Reds have already rejected a bid from Real Madrid for Alexander-Arnold. Slot has now spoken out about the future of the Englishman and expects him to stay for the reminder of his current deal at least. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.
Liverpool have recalled full-back Calvin Ramsay from his loan at Wigan Athletic. The 21-year-old had hoped to get regular game time this season with the League One side, who he joined in the summer. But the move has not worked out as hoped, with Ramsay making just three starts in all competitions. Wigan have confirmed he has now returned to Liverpool and he is set to be loaned back out.
In a statement, the Latics said: "We can confirm that defender Calvin Ramsay has returned to Liverpool FC. The 21-year-old originally signed a season-long loan deal in the summer, but leaves the Brick Community Stadium after making 12 appearances in all competitions.".
