A luxury doomsday bunker which boasts "AI-powered medical care" and illusion tactics to steer enemies away is offering memberships for a cool $20m (£16m). The futuristic shelter, which features fine dining, a swimming pool and wellness activities, only has space to fit 626 people. The lavish hide-out is being created by the company SAFE (Strategically Armoured & Fortified Environments).
According to the company’s founder and president, Al Corbi, the bunker will open its doors in Virginia, US, from as soon as 2026. AI promises “protection and luxury” and said the bunker was designed for the top one per cent. The shelter, which is based mainly underground, even has special effects options to help trick enemies into believing it is situated on the top of a cliff. Al Corbi, said: “It’s the wealthiest state per capita. It’s ground zero for the finest demographic for something like this in the world.”.
SAFE is already well-known in the bunker space and has already created a bunker complete with its own Formula 1 race track. The founder believes that this bunker, dubbed “Aerie”, will be their greatest creation to date. SAFE’s director of medical preparedness, Naomi Corbi, said there are different membership tiers available, the cheapest of which can be afforded by a “moderately successful CEO”.
