Several stars from Married at First Sight have reportedly struggled to pay their bills after participating in the show. Despite its popularity, many cast members face financial challenges once filming concludes. According to a former participant, who allegedly spoke to Yahoo, contestants are paid $1,178 per week, which includes both a daily rate and a food allowance. The source revealed: “Nothing could prepare me for what I had signed up for, and while you do get sucked in by the glitz and glamour, the remuneration is appalling. You get $150 a day plus a $128 food allowance for the week. All up you get $1,178. The way we are paid as 'contributors' and not as a proper job is how they can pay you so little.”.
Yahoo reported that this limited pay has left some participants struggling financially, forcing many to return to their full-time jobs after the show ends. Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the new season of Married at First Sight Australia, which premieres on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Australia. Unfortunately, UK fans will need to wait longer. While E4 has yet to confirm the exact UK release date for Season 12, it is predicted to air on Monday, February 24, 2025, nearly a month after its Australian debut.
The upcoming season is rumoured to feature the oldest bride in the show’s history, a participant who has survived a broken engagement, and two contestants with past appearances on other dating shows, according to OK! magazine. While MAFS UK has delivered its fair share of drama, the Australian version is set to raise the stakes. Last year’s MAFS AU 2024 season was packed with unforgettable moments, including early cast departures, a surprising recoupling, Lucinda Light’s headline-grabbing antics, and the revelation that Jack Dunkley and Tori Adams are still a couple.
