King Charles confirmed he’s ‘still alive’ after reports suggested his cancer treatment will continue into the New Year. During a visit with the Queen to a community event in Walthamstow today, Sikh faith representative Harvinder Rattan asked the King ‘How are you?’.
In response, Charles smiled and said: ‘I’m still alive.’. The event celebrated community cohesion in the aftermath of the summer’s riots, which prompted 5,000 people to stage a peaceful anti-racist counter-protest in the area. Earlier today, palace sources told Sky News that the King’s ‘treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year’.
They also said there ‘is a sense of optimism,’ which they claim can be seen in the King’s wishes to remain busy and carry out pubic engagements across Christmas. It was announcedin February that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer and was beginning a course of treatment.
Very early on, the monarch personally took the decision to share his diagnosis, and his experience, in the hope it may help others. But he has deliberately not confirmed the type of cancer he is being treated for so he doesn’t detract from the significance of other forms of the illness.
