Man Utd offered chance to land bargain deal as Premier League star's stance emerges

Manchester United could land Ben Chilwell in a cut-price deal with Chelsea wanting to offload the outcast. Chilwell has been at the Blues for a number of years, signed by Frank Lampard, but is currently out of favour under the current regime. The former England international has no plans to take a pay cut on his hefty £190,000-a-week salary, leaving Chelsea with issues of their own.
The 28-year-old is frustrated by the lack of game time he's getting at Stamford Bridge but equally doesn't want to let go of his lucrative contract. The Sun understands that Chelsea may need to pay off Chilwell to get him off their books - unless they can negotiate a heavily subsidised loan deal or find a buyer.
It could open the door for the Red Devils, who would have no problem taking on his wages and were credited with interest over the summer. They are in the market for players with a relatively limited budget. Chilwell also looks to fit the wing-back profile that Ruben Amorim is desperately seeking.
Chilwell was once a £50million player following his switch from Leicester, but the Manchester outfit could get him for way below that price. He played left wing-back for Chelsea when they won the Champions League final back in 2021. Amorim has insisted he has no plans to veer away from the 3-4-3 system he's introduced despite results still going against United, who continue to tumble down the table. His philosophy, though, would be aided by players capable of playing in unique positions.
Chilwell himself doesn't look to have a way back at Chelsea and has been left out of the squad for the Europa Conference League – a competition in which Chelsea have given minutes to their fringe players. His only outing of the season was 45 minutes in a 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Barrow.
