Manchester United are monitoring Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as the Blues weigh up a January move for Alejandro Garnacho. Nkunku has scored 13 goals in 13 starting appearances this season but has seen his first-team chances largely limited to the Europa Conference League and cup competitions.
The France international has started just three Premier League games under Enzo Maresca. The situation has left Nkunku unhappy at Stamford Bridge with United credited with interest in the former RB Leipzig star in December. Bayern Munich are now eying a move for the 27-year-old but United’s interest remains.
ESPN report Ruben Amorim’s side have ‘asked to be kept informed of developments’ regarding the forward’s future this month with Nkunku open to leaving Stamford Bridge. It comes as Chelsea ponder an official bid for United star Garnacho. The Argentina international, one of United’s top talents, could leave Old Trafford this month.
While they are not actively looking to force the winger out of the club, their financial position means realistic offers will be considered. Napoli are also interested in signing Garnacho but the winger is thought to prefer to stay in the Premier League.
United initially set an asking price of £70m for their wideman – a fee similar to the one Chelsea want for Nkunku. United are desperately short of goals this season with Amad Diallo their top scorer with six. Their options up top of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have mustered just five between them in all competitions with the Dane on a run of 10 games without a goal.
