Jamie Carragher has questioned Chelsea’s transfer pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho amid speculation Manchester United are set to receive a formal offer. The Argentina international’s future has been the subject of intense speculation ever since he was left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of last month’s Manchester derby.
Garnacho has featured only sporadically in the six weeks since that match and following last night’s win over Rangers Amorim refused to rule out the sale of one of the club’s most promising youngsters. ‘I don’t know what will happen,’ he said. ‘Let’s focus on the team and the players that we have here.
‘We don’t know what can happen until the window closes. Anything can happen.’. Napoli, who are scouring the market in order to find a replacement for PSG’s new signing, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, had looked like a potential destination. The Serie A club, however, have already had a bid rejected for the player as United initially held out for a £70 million transfer fee for the 20-year-old.
