Manchester United have agreed a €37.5 million (£31.4m) deal with Lecce to sign Patrick Dorgu, according to reports in Italy. The versatile wing-back is now set to become the first signing of Ruben Amorim’s reign as United manager. According to Sky Sport Italy, United have agreed to pay €30m (£25.2m) up front, plus a further €7.5m (£6.2m) in add-ons.
The 20-year-old is in his second season with Lecce following his €200,000 (£175,000) move from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland in 2022. Dorgu is capable of playing on either flank and is seen as a player who can play a key role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system which relies heavily on wing-backs.
Elsewhere, Napoli remain in talks with United over a deal for Alejandro Garnacho but the Serie A leaders are still refusing to meet the €65m (£54.5m) asking price. Napoli are willing to go as high as £55m but are exploring alternative targets including Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have not followed up their interest in Garnacho with an official offer. During negotiations for the Argentine winger, United have enquired about Christopher Nkunku but Chelsea are demanding a £65m fee for the 27-year-old. Nkunku, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, is said to be against a loan move to United and is only willing to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal this month.
