Marcus Rashford gets Man Utd escape route from familiar face as European giants plot loan move

AC Milan are interested in signing Marcus Rashford this month after the forward fell out of favour at Manchester United. Rashford has not played for United since he was axed from the matchday squad for last month's 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City and the 27-year-old has admitted that he is "ready for a new challenge".
United are looking to offload him in the January transfer window, but Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages have limited the interest in his services. According to the Daily Mail, Milan are considering a loan move. Milan have struggled for goals so far this season and star forwards Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic have both had spells out injured. The club currently sit eighth in Serie A, 17 points behind league leaders Napoli, and Rashford's former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic is said to have been 'tasked with trying to find solutions'.
It is claimed that Rashford's name is in the mix and United ideally want to sell him for £40million. However, the report adds that they are open to letting him leave on loan with an obligation to buy and several clubs are interested in striking a deal.
Rashford has rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia and was said to prefer a move to Spain, but that is unlikely to happen this month. As a result, Milan have emerged as contenders to sign him. After being sidelined for three straight games by Ruben Amorim, Rashford returned to the bench for United's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on December 30 but was not brought on.
