Police investigating the sudden disappearance of twins in Aberdeen have confirmed two bodies have been found, as we take a look at the timeline leading to the sad update. Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, both 32, part of a set of triplets, vanished after they left their rented flat in the city in the early hours of January 7. A major search was launched around the River Dee and at 8am this morning it was confirmed two bodies have now been pulled from the water.

Police Scotland said formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of Henrietta Huszti, 32, was informed. And now a second body has been recovered and the family has again been updated. The sisters moved to Scotland from Hungary a decade ago, and notified their landlord they would not be returning to their flat at around 2.12am on January 7, when they were caught on CCTV walking near the River Dee. Police Scotland have said there are no apparent suspicious circumstances and nothing to suggest criminality.

Edit Huszti, the sisters' triplet, spoke with both on New Year's Eve and later revealed they seemed happy and cheerful during their conversation. It would prove to be the last time they ever spoke. Jozsef Huszti, the sisters’ brother, spoke to the pair for the last time and later told the BBC their 40-minute conversation felt entirely normal.

Eliza and Henrietta were seen on CCTV walking near the Victoria Bridge area around 2:50pm carrying rucksacks as they crossed the road near the River Dee. They were later spotted walking back toward their flat on Charlotte Street. At 2.12am, the sisters were seen on CCTV walking along Market Street toward Victoria Bridge and the River Dee footpath. A text was sent to their landlady saying they would not be returning to their flat, after which their phone was disconnected. They were never seen alive again.

The alarm was raised after their belongings were found in their flat by their landlady, sparking a major search operation. Superintendent David Howieson of Police Scotland said there was no evidence to suggest criminal circumstances in their disappearance. Police released new CCTV footage showing the sisters walking near Victoria Bridge on the day before they disappeared. It was also revealed that Henrietta had messaged their landlord at the same time.

Police Scotland announced searches of the River Dee had concluded. A body was found in the River Dee at Aberdeen Boat Club near the Queen Elizabeth Bridge.
