Mohamed Salah set tongues wagging on social media with a cryptic post minutes after Arsenal's slip-up against Aston Villa. On Saturday, Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League after Darwin Nunez netted twice in injury time to seal a heart-pumping 2-0 win over Brentford. Arsenal had the chance to close the gap in the late kick-off but could only muster a draw against Villa after throwing away a two-goal lead in the second half.

In an apparent attempt to rub salt in the wounds of Liverpool's title rivals, Salah uploaded a snap of him and match-winner Nunez to Instagram just six minutes after the final whistle blew at the Emirates Stadium. The pair looked in high spirits as they prepared for take off ahead of their flight back to Merseyside.

The post didn't have a caption, leaving fans speculating whether the timing of it was intentional. "Proper s***housery from Salah there," one supporter wrote on X, while another commented: "Salah knows exactly what he's doing here.". Liverpool made hard work of their trip to Brentford and looked to be heading for their third-successive draw in the league before second-half substitute Nunez broke the deadlock at 91 minutes. Since his first Premier League campaign back in 2022/23, only Jhon Duran (eight) has scored more goals from the bench than Nunez (seven).

Arsenal, meanwhile, raced into a 2-0 lead against former coach Unai Emery's Villa, with Gabriel Martinelli grabbing his side's first goal 10 minutes before the interval and Kai Havertz doubling their lead 10 minutes after the restart. But the visitors hit back almost instantly, with Youri Tielemans scoring on the hour-mark before Ollie Watkins equalised on 68 minutes.
