Molly-Mae's personal reason for swearing off alcohol as Tommy Fury reveals secret struggle

The downfall of Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae's relationship following his struggle with alcohol is unsurprising given her own personal reason for cutting booze out of her life years ago. Reality TV star and boxer Tommy, 25, this week blamed his dependency on alcohol after sustaining a boxing injury for the split last year and denies he ever cheated on the mother of his daughter. Slamming rumours and online speculation of him cheating, he branded it 'complete and utter b***ocks.'.
Tommy and Molly-Mae met in the Love Island villa in 2019 and went on to welcome daughter Bambi Fury into the world in January 2023. Boxer Tommy popped the question a few months later but in August last year, fans were stunned when Molly-Mae announced the end of their engagement.
However, the pair were spotted sharing a kiss at a star-studded New Year's Eve party and it looks like a reunion is on the cards - just in time for the premiere of Molly-Mae's new Amazon Prime series. Amid speculation the split was a publicity stunt, Tommy has opened up about why he and Molly-Mae ended things last year.
"The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore," Tommy told Men's Health Magazine. "It kills me to say it, [but] it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I’ve got mine to bear.".
It comes after Molly-Mae explained in her 2022 memoir how her parents' divorce when she was teenager could possibly be the reason she shuns boozy nights out and alcohol as an adult. The 25-year-old said watching her mother turn to alcohol to cope with the pain of a marriage break-up "sort of explains" why she avoids drinking too much to this day.
