Mythic Quest has triumphantly returned to Apple TV+ for its fourth season, and the stakes have never been higher. Despite game developers Ian Grimm (played by Rob McElhenney) and Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) resuming their leadership roles, the team is scrambling for ideas as their pandemic profits begin to shrink. Meanwhile, executive producer David Brittlesbee (David Hornsby) collaborates with head of monetisation Rachel Mayee (Ashly Burch) to steer the company back on course, while Dana Bryant (Imani Hakim) forms an alliance with Brad Bakshi (Danny Pudi) to cultivate her own concepts.

However, the first two episodes of the new season, which debuted this Wednesday (29th January), have thrown a curveball as Poppy embarks on her first-ever relationship with new beau Storm (Chase Yi). The latest series of Mythic Quest has been lauded as the show's 'best season yet', and Screen Time had the exclusive opportunity to chat with the cast about some of the forthcoming episodes. A standout highlight of this year's series is a lavish murder mystery episode that showcases the cast at their finest, delivering top-notch gags and astonishing surprises.

"It was so much fun!" exclaimed Hakim. "We had this joke that we got to do this all day on set," she added, demonstrating a jazzy dance move alongside her co-star Pudi. "Everybody just looked so good and fine. The hair was slick. I hope we get to do more episodes with a departure from just being in the workplace. Maybe a musical or something! It was just really fun to mix it up a bit", reports the Express.

Pudi reminisced, "I told Megan Ganz, who directed the episode, 'This may be one of my favourite episodes of anything I've ever done'. It's such a sweet departure but it's still anchored by this wonderful character growth and moments in our show that I think are very important.". This is definitely high praise considering Pudi previously starred in Community, which features some of the best genre-bending episodes in sitcom history. "So, that is the beauty of that episode," he added.

"But for people who just pop in, it's such a fun one-off episode. I'm watching Traitors right now and I can't stop trying to figure out who's lying and who's not lying!. "It was fun to have a cocktail, have an Old Fashioned, be dressed in my slick zoot suit and just pose in a corner and be mysterious and nefarious. Everybody wants to do that!". Explaining the thoughts behind the episode, star and writer Burch remembered: "I think we were talking about, it would be fun for them to have a game night of some kind.".

Creator Ganz chimed in: "Yeah, I think it came out of the idea that Ian would want to mess with Storm, and so we were like 'It might be fun to do a game night where Ian messes with Storm and pretends like he's not but obviously he's jealous'.". Amazon members can now subscribe to Apple TV+ directly through their Prime Video account as an add-on subscription. Apple TV+ costs £8.99 per month after a seven-day free trial, which also includes an Amazon Prime 30-day trial for non-existing members.

"Megan loves puzzles, escape rooms, Agatha Christie," Burch said. "It was just the perfect episode for her to co-write and direct. It was such a difficult episode to break because it turns out writing a murder mystery is hard! How did Agatha Christie write so many?". Ganz added: "We knew that it was going to be fun from a character perspective, but we really wanted to hold up the murder mystery part of it and keep people guessing until the end. So we really had to write it in such a way that people didn't see the end coming and hopefully they don't.".

Nicdao shared her excitement: "That episode was so much fun to shoot.". And Hornsby weighed in: "It's fun to put ourselves in a new environment with these stakes that seem a little heightened even for our show, these sort of fun, faux stakes. "It was really fun to get out of the office and into a completely different environment. And who doesn't want to be part of a Glass Onion-type mystery?". The Mythic Quest crew has indeed crafted an intricate episode that could rival Benoit Blanc's adventures, which fans will soon have the pleasure of experiencing for themselves.
