Netflix fans have reacted to a brand new series dropping on the streaming site as they say they are already "hooked". Next week will see the launch of true crime drama Apple Cider Vinegar and viewers are set to be in for a wild ride. The upcoming Australian drama was helmed by Nine Perfect Strangers creator Samantha Strauss, who was living in Melbourne at the time of the real-life events that inspired the show.

The tattle-tale story follows the rise and fall of a wellness scam that took social media by storm in the early 2010s. It is based on the true crime novel, The Woman Who Fooled the World, written by journalists Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano. The series follows influencer Belle Gibson, who built an online business and social media following on fraudulent claims. She insisted she had cured debilitating health issues by adopting a healthy diet and using holistic medicines. Belle even went as far as claiming she had cured her terminal brain cancer, which had left her with months to live. As her popularity grew, Belle developed a mobile app and a companion cookbook in 2015 that were supposed to help others reach peak health.

However, before the UK launch of her book, The Whole Pantry, a group of journalists investigated the health guru's claims and found them to be riddled with falsehoods. Her downfall came soon after, and she eventually admitted that "none of it is true". The six part series will be released on February 6 and fans have already reacted to the trailer. One said: "Damn I’m hooked also low key wanna try trying Apple Cider Vinegar next time I’m ill." Another added: "Oh I’m ready!" Someone else commented: "Ohh we are ready and very excited for that." A fourth wrote: "That sounds intriguing! If it's being described as a 'trainwreck of a story,' it’s probably going to be one of those wild, unpredictable rides.".

The Apple Cider Vinegar cast is led by Kaitlyn Dever, who plays the real-life influencer, Belle Gibson. She is joined by Alycia Debnam-Carey, who portrays a fictional wellness guru named Milla Blake. The Bold Type fans will be thrilled to learn that Aisha Dee, who plays Kat in the beloved drama, is also part of the ensemble. Other notable stars include The Lose Flowers of Alice Hart actor Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Mark Coles Smith, best known for the crime drama Mystery Road: Origin. Summarising the crux of the forthcoming show, creator Strauss said: "It’s really interesting to look at how media uses food as a weapon against us and how much we crave the nourishment, but how much of a privilege and how expensive it is to try to be well.".
