Londoners are just hours away from ringing in the New Year as spectacular celebrations continue across the world. Most of the UK has been warned of a looming triple weather threat of heavy rain, strong winds and snow, and potential travel chaos up and down the country, but it looks like London may be spared.
Earlier today, a spokesperson for the Mayor's office confirmed that there would be no changes to the fireworks display in the capital after concerns were raised over the event cancellations. They commented: "We continue to monitor the weather forecast closely, but ticketholders and the many millions watching around the world are set for a spectacular night of fireworks from the banks of the Thames to welcome in the new year. All tickets are sold out.
Meanwhile, several countries have already entered 2025, including Australia, Japan and China, where stunning fireworks displays lit up the night sky. Parts of Russia have also entered 2025 - although it comes as Vladimir Putin has axed midnight fireworks displays.
