'Not the best loser' – Judd Trump questions Kyren Wilson as Shaun Murphy joke falls flat

Judd Trump called Kyren Wilson “not the best loser” as he reacted to the Masters runner-up’s controversial post-match comments. Wilson, who defeated Trump in the semi-finals at Alexandra Palace, was beaten 10-7 by Shaun Murphy, who collected his first Triple Crown title since winning the same tournament a decade ago. After the final, Wilson raised eyebrows by calling Murphy, 42, an “old man” and saying “he needs this more than me”.
The world champion, 33, then suggested some of his rivals were “envious” of his family unit before vowing to “consume so many Jagerbombs tonight and have the best night ever”. Trump gave his take on Wilson's bizarre comments as he returned to action at the Championship League this week, revealing they were a hot topic amongst his peers. Trump told the Metro: “I think the first thing everybody said at the Championship League was, ‘Did you watch that?’.
“I don’t think he particularly put himself in good light. I don’t know if it was a private joke, but it doesn’t seem that many people took it that well, from what I’ve read. "It’s happened a couple of times, he’s not the best loser, but it’s not the worst thing to be hurting like that. Everyone will get over it and it’ll be fine.".
Trump acknowledged that, as the runner-up in a big tournament, it is tricky whether to be brutally honest or to play it safe when addressing the media. “I’ve done it in the past. He probably means what he says, you just can’t really say it. There’s a fine line between being honest and trying to keep everyone happy,” said world No.1 Trump.
