FANS reckon they've cracked the right way to eat a Cadbury Creme Egg. Whether you're a classic biter or enjoy scooping out the gooey middle, there's no wrong way to enjoy the sweet treat. A poll of 1,500 chocolate lovers revealed biting off the top and using your tongue to lap up the contents is the most popular way to tuck in.

A quarter of those surveyed agreed that this dependable method it their go-to. Simply biting into the egg and consuming the chocolate and filling together was a close second with 23% of people agreeing. Other methods include sucking the creme out of the shell, which received 15% of the vote and "peeling" the foil back like a banana and biting away bit by bit, which was agreed on by 13% of voters.

Even using a teaspoon got a mention, with 3% of people admitting to the odd habit. Meanwhile, 8% of those surveyed say they "nibble it like a small animal" to make the experience last as long as possible, while 7% eat the whole egg in one. The research was commissioned by the makers of the egg, Cadbury, to launch its ‘Admit It To Win’ competition.

Through the campaign, the chocolate empire is inviting fans to confess how they devour their Creme Eggs, with winners receiving up to £10,000. "We've long asked: ‘How do you eat yours?’" spokesperson Joshua Collier said. “But honestly, there’s no right or wrong way and people should do their thing - we’re finding more and more wacky ways people are eating theirs.
