Pete Wicks has broken his silence on having a 'very close' relationship with Maura Higgins as he opened up about his private life. The Strictly star, 37, and the former Love Island icon, 34, sparked rumours they had spent Christmas together, after the new couple posted snaps in what seemed like the same pub on December 25.

Speaking to The Times, he said: 'We've known each other for a very, very long time. We're very close. 'But a lot of being in the public eye is that people assume that you have to tell everyone all about your private life and I've never, never done that.'.
