Pop sensation Peter Andre has opened up about a parenting revelation he had after hearing his daughter Princess chat with her brother. The chart-topping singer, who grew up in a Jehovah's Witness household, realised that being too strict could backfire.

He candidly shared on the Netmums podcast: "I didn't want my kids to be restricted. I learnt that lessons from my daughter, with Princess when Love Island was on and she was 14. I was like: 'You're not watching that.'. "And she's like: 'But why dad, all my friends have.' I said: 'I don't care, that's their parents' choice.'".

Going through a common parent-teen disagreement, Peter revealed he stood firm against his then-14 year old daughter watching the racy reality show Love Island, only to discover she found a way around his rule. He explained: "This was when it first started, when it first came out. And then one day I was in the other room and I heard her talking to Junior going: 'Yeah, I saw Love Island today at school.'.

"And I heard and I was like: 'What? ' And she was like: 'Yeah, we watched it on my friend's phone at lunchtime. And at that time, the penny dropped.". Being brought up with restrictive practices in a religious setting himself, the father-of-five knows all too well the importance of balance in giving freedom to his children.

Jehovah's Witnesses adhere to strict guidelines forbidding premarital sex, drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling, and receiving blood transfusions. Peter, who shares Princess and 19 year old Junior with his ex-wife, former glamour model Katie Price, also has three children with wife Emily - Amelia, 11, Theo, eight, and nine-month-old Arabella. The 'Mysterious Girl' singer has revealed that both he and Emily feel their family is complete and have no plans for more children, reports Devon Live.
