Phil Taylor has been able to throw a dart for the first time in months after the darts legend finally underwent hip surgery. The 16-time world champion was forced to retire from Seniors Darts last year due to his health concerns as he was plagued with excruciating pain in his hip. Taylor, 64, has since had the surgery, and while a comeback to the sport where he's widely regarded as the greatest to ever play seems unlikely, he can at least get back to throwing casually after a long layoff.

Just a few days after Luke Littler claimed his maiden World Championship title at Alexandra Palace after dominating Michael van Gerwen in the final, the Stoke-on-Trent native hung up a dart board on his living room wall to get back in the groove. 'The Power' described his pain pre-hip replacement as "walking through broken glass" every time he'd get out of his chair, but that wasn't the only surgery he'd go under the knife for.

Taylor also got laser-eye surgery as he refused to rule out a comeback to the sport in an interview with The Times. He said: "I’m going to give it a go while the weather’s like this and see what happens," before adding: "If I can, I can.". With or without what would be a stunning return to darts, Taylor has enjoyed an eventful retirement. It has consisted of working on his property portfolio, having fun with his grandchildren, and having a daily outing to his local supermarket.

It was just months ago when Taylor confirmed that there'll be no return to competitive darts for him due to his body no longer being able to keep up with the demand of training. "It’s a matter of doing more exercise now, getting the blood circulating," he told The Sun.
