Prince Harry has spent years battling in the courts in order to have his taxpayer-funded police security reinstated when he and his family visit the UK. And he has a very simple goal, according to a friend of the Duke. Harry's security was withdrawn in 2020 when he and Meghan decided to step back from their royal duties. At the present time, he is provided with a "bespoke" security arrangement, based on a case-by-case basis.
Despite losing the initial rounds of the legal battle, which ruled that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) - responsible for deciding who receives police protection - was lawful in withdrawing his automatic security, Harry has secured the right to appeal, which is scheduled for April.
Now a pal has revealed why Harry is determined for his wife, Meghan, and their two children to have security protection during any visits to the UK. They told Hello!: "The goal for Prince Harry is simple. He wants to ensure the safety of himself and his family while in the UK so his children can know his home country and so he can help support his patronages and their important work.".
Harry's wife, Meghan, has not visited the UK since the late Queen's funeral on September 19, 2022. And the couple's children were last in his homelands for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022; it is the only time the King has met his youngest granddaughter Lilibet.
"Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life," a spokesperson said back in 2022. "He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats.
