Tucked away in the North, Bempton Cliffs on Yorkshire's coast serves as a serene haven for nature enthusiasts, with its striking white cliffs, peaceful beaches, and an array of wildlife. Home to impressive colonies of puffins and occasional dolphin sightings, it's a sublime retreat from the rush of daily life.
Labelled as "little Cornwall" by Facebook blogger Kendall Escapes, the spot is celebrated for some of Britain's most spectacular coastal vistas. Bird watchers are in for a treat with more than 200,000 seabirds including puffins, gannets and kittiwakes flocking to nest.
It's not just about the birds; bottlenose dolphins also feature among the local marine life, often spotted in nearby waters. With fewer visitors compared to other UK coastal destinations, Bempton Cliffs promises a more tranquil atmosphere. The area boasts walkways that cater to all ages, with a nine-mile circular trail encompassing cliff-side views, woodlands, and secluded bays.
Enthusiastic Tripadvisor reviews highlight the region's wildlife richness and the enjoyment it brings to adult and kid hikers alike. For instance, Kimberleyanddarren remarked: "We were unfortunately too late to see the puffins but it didn't dampen our day.
"We saw lots of incredible wildlife and loved that it was easy paths and not miles of endless walking which can feel tiring with small children in tow.". Max R shared: "Absolutely stunning. We went in the season for puffins and there were a lot of them.
