A violent quadruple amputee bit and spat at police officers after hitting a bus passenger with his prosthetic hook. Thomas Proudfoot, 28, hit a passenger at Perth Bus Station, Scotland, before assaulting two police officers who arrived to arrest him. He managed to bite one officer on the body and tried to bite another as well as spitting at them after knocking passenger Wayne Mysiuk to the ground.

Fiscal depute Stephanie Paterson told Perth Sheriff Court: "The accused was on the bus and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. The driver had cause to contact the police. Mr Mysiuk was awaiting a bus and approached the accused to defuse the situation. The accused spat at him, striking his face and shoulder.

"The accused turned away and sat back down on the bus before exiting again. The accused was told to move away from the bus by Mr Mysiuk. The accused apologised and extended a prosthetic hook to shake. Mr Mysiuk accepted the apology but refused to shake the hook.

"The accused, without warning, struck Mr Mysiuk with the hook, knocking him to the ground. Police took hold of the accused and informed him he was under arrest. "The accused spat at PC Matthew Thomson. The police placed the accused on the ground and the accused's hook got caught in PC Thomson's wedding ring, causing the skin to break.

"The accused thereafter tried to bite PC Thomson to the hand, but he was able to remove his hand before any pressure was placed on it. Further assistance was requested by police. The accused was taken control of by police officers. However, the accused managed to bite PC Cameron Sutherland to the left calf, but did not cause injury.".
