Ricki Lake is sharing her gratitude with those who have helped her out as she lives through a 'nightmare' scenario after her home in Malibu was burned to the ground in Los Angeles' devastating fires. The 56-year-old hairspray shared her thanks in an Instagram Live video on Saturday.
She thanked friends and fans who had reached out to help, but also several brands who had offered to replace essential items her family lost in the Pacific Palisades fire. 'It's so weird to be in a place of need. I am such an independent person, I've been taking care of my own since [I was] 18 years old,' she said in the clip.
'I don't come from money, I don't come from any handout or nepotism,' she declared. 'I just built this life for myself and my husband and my kids. It's just so weird to have it be gone in one event.'. Lake appeared to film the clip from a friend's home, where she has been staying since she was forced to evacuate her home.
Ricki Lake, 56, thanked her friends who offered their help after her Malibu home was destroyed earlier this month in the LA fires. A post shared by Ricki Lake (@rickilake). She previously shared a video of the burned-out hulk of what was once her family home, where she lived with her husband Ross Burningham.
She thanked several brands and also tagged them in her caption. The list included multiple clothing, wellness and skincare companies, including OSEA Skincare, Kroma Wellness, Héilo Skin Care, Ped Shoes, Hårklinikken and the chef Chariya Leeds, among others.
