Robbie Williams fans were left in hysterics in the lead-up to his gig as a "pre-show national anthem" was performed, including a sing-a-long fans could participate in. The former Take That member, 50, gave attendees a little extra entertainment before hitting the stage and has been called an "icon" for his cheeky play on the patriotic song, Land of Hope and Glory. Williams provided new lyrics referencing his drug and alcohol use, how he can "swing both ways" and that he "still rules the throne.".
Williams delighted fans, who took to X to share a video of the lyrics which appeared on the screen behind the stage before he appeared for the concert. One user wrote: "Just found out about Robbie Williams' pre-show national anthem and I think that's beautiful.".
WARNING: CLIP CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE. Fans in attendance at the gig were heard singing along to the reworked song, which saw Williams dubbed the "King of Song" who can "rock and roll all night long." Those who saw the video on social media were delighted with the singing, and suggested Williams' cheeky anthem was fantastic.
One user wrote: "I love this to bits." Another added: "Hearing this play in the USA was pretty funny cause we all yelled about not being popular in the USA." A third wrote: "lmao he's such a diva I love it.". The viral post comes after the release of Williams' biopic, Better Man, where the Rock DJ singer is portrayed by a computer generated monkey. It appears Williams is hoping to make a follow-up to the film already, as he said there are "many stories" he didn't get to tell.
